Timothy Treadwell Behavior Essay Example for Free
Timothy Treadwell Behavior Essay Thereââ¬â¢s a great deal of mindfulness toward basic entitlements and creature remorselessness in the United States, there are a lot of basic entitlements associations that help us the general population find out about what befalls creatures when we donââ¬â¢t know or see. In any case, some dissident make the wellbeing of creatures their need throughout everyday life, even forthright to place them in peril to do what they believe is right. Timothy Treadwell, otherwise called Grizzly Man, did only that. Being an in-your-face dissident living with grizzlies so as to shield them from what he called ââ¬Å"the indecencies of menâ⬠. As per Anthrozoologist like Hal Herzog, the writer of ââ¬Å"Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eatâ⬠, Timothy Treadwellââ¬â¢s conduct can be clarified by his previous existence battles, his over adoration for bears, and his excitement to make a move. How can somebody go from being an entertainer to an endure devotee? Treadwellââ¬â¢s occupation is expressed just like an on-screen character on the grounds that thatââ¬â¢s what he read for, however it was something that he didnââ¬â¢t get fortunate in and therefor turned into a disappointed on-screen character. Reality with regards to Treadwell is that before you discovered his ââ¬Å"callingâ⬠he was a lost and miserable individual, in a portion of his recording saying ââ¬Å"Nobody frigginââ¬â¢ realized that there are times when my life has been on the incline of deathâ⬠. Treadwell in the wake of turning out to be alcoholic endure a close lethal heroin overdose causing him to understand that he needed to accomplish something in his life that was significant and thatââ¬â¢s where the grizzlies transformed him. Hal Herzog says ââ¬Å"animal activism can give importance and reason to a personââ¬â¢s lifeâ⬠(Herzog 242), subsequent to concealing base Treadwell expected to make sense of what else he needed to do where he wouldnââ¬â¢t be judged, dismissed, and embarrassed by anybody. When Treadwell met his first bear, he discovered his calling, he discovered his importance throughout everyday life, he currently comprehended what his motivation was and that was to live among the earthy colored bears. As a result of his past circumstances and frustrations, being distant from everyone else in the wild with animals that wouldnââ¬â¢t mind having him around and where inquisitive about him caused him to feel safe. In the film Treadwell shares how he canââ¬â¢t hold back to come back to Alaska when he leaves, he appreciated being out there in light of the fact that that was his protected zone in life away from all ââ¬Ëevilââ¬â¢. That sheltered zone with the bears kept Treadwell at piece and gave him a character, Hal Herzog giving a case of extremist that are lost on the planet and once they discover something worth battling for they get themselves and increase a personality. Treadwellââ¬â¢s character was Grizzly Man, his personality invigorated him power and that helped him all through the ears with living with bears for 13 summers. Thereââ¬â¢s an expression that states ââ¬Å"love killsâ⬠and you could say that regarding Timothy Treadwellââ¬â¢s demise, being assaulted and eaten by the creature that he love the most makes you wonder why anybody could pass rationale and follow their heart. All through Werner Herzogââ¬â¢s film Treadwell yells, cries, and communicates the amount he cherishes wild bears, ââ¬Å"I will kick the bucket for these creatures! I will kick the bucket for these creatures! I will pass on for these creatures! â⬠he said. Hal Herzog clarifies in a part that occasionally as opposed to following our heads we accept we ought to follow our hearts since that will lead us to joy, ââ¬Å"Our hearts are considerably more inclined to mistake than our headsâ⬠(Herzog 260). Treadwellââ¬â¢s heart was bears and helping the bears, but since of the fanatical love he had transformed into the ability to conflict with his rationale of living with wild creatures. He accepted that bears were his companions; he revealed to them he adored them and even petted them, Treadwell didnââ¬â¢t care about whatever else other than his companions in the wild whom he cherished and was eager to kick the bucket for them and dieed as a result of one. His driving affection that he had for these creatures, the living things that had spared his life and brought so much joy, was a motivation behind why he chose to leave people and life in isolation with bears. ââ¬Å"I am the Lordââ¬â¢s humble worker. I am Allahââ¬â¢s follower there has been a flat out wonder. It has come down 1. 65 creeps of downpour todayâ⬠Treadwell said after a long dry spell influencing the creatures. Treadwellââ¬â¢s love drove him to make a move yet his excitement to go each mid year and go through months alone, his aspiration, want, and uneasiness to be with bears was from his enthusiasm to give back. ââ¬Å"The moral duty of activists appears from numerous points of view Sometimes the weight just gets too heavyâ⬠(Herzog 245), Treadwell felt like he claimed his life to the bears that he had a guarantee to them and was never to break it. Subsequent to sparing his inside and physical self he expected to ensure them and he did as much as could be expected under the circumstances, he cared for the creatures as though they were his family and when it got hard he just took it out on himself and never on the creatures in light of the fact that Treadwell accepted people were the issue not the bears. Treadwell needed to achieve what no other individual could do and that was to live inside wild creatures that had the solidarity to murder anybody, and his aspiration drove him to make a move, his affection and duty to the mountain bears. Timothy Treadwellââ¬â¢s passing was terrible and not stunning at all on the grounds that a great many people excepted that to occur, on the off chance that you solicited anybody what they thought from Treadwell choice to live with grizzlies theyââ¬â¢d likely state he was insane. Be that as it may, in all actuality he was insane yet insane in adoration, in affection with the creatures that had given him a reason throughout everyday life and had spared him from quite a while ago. Timothy Treadwell didnââ¬â¢t need hurt for anybody or for anything, he simply needed to offer his thanks and love to the creatures that had changed his life for eternity.

Diversity - A Key Part Of Writing A College Essay
Diversity - A Key Part Of Writing A College EssayIn writing your college essay, diversity is a key factor. In many cases, the objective of writing a college essay is to 'get'make' the reader think about the topic. Depending on the complexity of the topic, this can be achieved by complexity or by diversity. Therefore, diversity must be carefully evaluated and used correctly to maximize its effects. It is important to know exactly what a college essay is and what it is not. For one thing, college essays are not always about anything in particular. A college essay does not have to discuss any issues of current affairs or events. In fact, if you are to write a college essay, you will want to make sure that you have an idea about the topic that will trigger your thinking. So, the purpose of your essay is not necessarily to discuss current events or issues.Another element that should be used in your writing a college essay is to keep your focus on diversity. In general most college students spend quite a bit of time discussing politics, history, science, philosophy, etc. Remember, these are all ideas for another day. But, if you can mix some diversity into the discussion, you will be doing yourself a favor.Diversity is used primarily to connect with an audience. Usually, the audience is composed of many different groups of people who are different from one another. Diversity connects with an audience, because people have a tendency to see and consider things differently. In general, when you use diversity in your writing a college essay, you will get an understanding of a different viewpoint or idea.By varying the types of diversity that you use, you will be connecting with several different viewpoints or opinions. However, you do not want to overwhelm the person reviewing your essay with too much diversity. The target audience should not feel that they have had their eyes rolled in when reading a college essay that has too much diversity. You should also try to presen t a wide array of perspectives. This means that the diversity that you use is broad. You should not limit the viewpoint by trying to fit all of your viewpoints into a certain narrow category. Remember, the goal is to find a way to appeal to as many readers as possible. Finally, remember that the goal of your college essay is to allow the person reviewing your work to come to his or her own conclusions. It is very easy to get caught up in an article when you have a strong opinion or feeling about the topic. Thus, it is important to allow for room for different perspectives in your essay. This allows for a space where each reader has the opportunity to interpret the essay according to his or her own personal preferences. These are some of the important elements to keep in mind when writing a college essay. By carefully looking at the differences between diversity and the concept of inclusion, you will find ways to introduce diversity to your readers. Remember, diversity and inclusion ar e not necessarily opposites, so you can use the concept of inclusion to stir up diversity within your writing.

Essay On Mind Body Argument - 1409 Words
Mind Body Argument Alex Seeley October 9, 2017 Phil 101-005: Appreciation of Philosophy Professor Cheri Hanson The Mind-Body Problem is one with many different opposing viewpoints and standpoints that has baffled the minds of many that question their existence in the physical realm. Many would argue that the mind is separate from the body which sounds quite poetic nature, but with all emotional feelings aside what would be the actual scientific, cynical some could argue, way of actually addressing the Mind-Body Problem? Since there is very limited evidence that people can observe physically then it is apparent that the idea of Dualism is quite outlandish. Typically, when an argument accounts for unobservable facts and rather theoreticalâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This creates far more complexity to the argument regarding dualism. From a scientifical, non-biased/non emotional standpoint, formal logic best separates the emotional state from reality to essentially remove the lense in which reality is perceived. Formal logic, most attributed to the 14th century logician, Franciscan friar William of Ockham, presents the philosophical theory known as Occamââ¬â¢s Razor. Occamââ¬â¢s Razor is the argument that when considering two different alternatives, one is better off choosing the simpler alternative over the more complex as it presents less room for reasonable doubt and more room for factual evidence. He states, ââ¬Å"When you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better (W. M. Thorburn)â⬠This idea is largely applied to scientific evidence that would theoretically eliminate the possibility of supernatural beings and more so favor the idea of physicalism. if simplicity is the modus operandi, the postulation of immaterial objects, in this case a soul /personality, clouds the question with more unnecessary reason and doubt. Though mathematics could be argued as immaterial and a made up interpretation of reality, they relate to the physical world directly allowing humans to further interpret their surroundings in relation to the objects around them. Theories Of Natural Selection And Psychoanalytic...
Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud are both widely known respectively for their natural selection and psychoanalytic personality theories. Charles Darwin helped further the field of evolutionary psychology while Sigmund Freud helped discover the unconscious which is still debated to this day about whether it is real. Darwinââ¬â¢s natural selection theory talks about how organisms adapt to survive and the two types of sexual selection which is intersexual and intrasexual selection. Freudââ¬â¢s theory of psychoanalytic personality talks about how the id, ego, and superego affects our behavior and talks about how our unconscious is a very important aspect in our lives. Both theoriesââ¬â¢ comprehensiveness, theoretical soundness, and empirical value haveâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Those that survive these forces, passes it on to their offspring and increases their survivability during these conditions while those that don t survive these forces, dies off and their genes don t p ass off to future generations. These things listed above regarding natural selection shows that organisms adapt to survive. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and superego. According to Freud, we are born with the id and is where all our urges and drives occur. We just want whatever we want and want it right then and there. This is called the pleasure principle.Show MoreRelatedStructuralism And The Development Of Psychology874 Words à |à 4 Pagesprocess b) Gestalt- Max Wertheimer sought to explain perceptions in terms of results rather than by analyzing their constituents c)Psychoanalytic/psychodynamic-Sigmund Freud revolutionized psychology with his theory of psychoanalytic, he believed he discovered the unconscious mind. Hard Rock Cafe Essay. free essay sample
England opened in April 2002. The decision to open a Hard Rock Cafe in Nottingham is further evidence of the citys rise in importance as a prime entertainment area. , said BBC. SIC] Nonetheless, surprisingly, Hard Rock Cafe Nottingham closed in November 2007. Other cafes in Birmingham and Leeds, England also closed that year[2]. There was no explanation given by Hard Rocks top managers, but it might be one, two or all of the following reasons: Firstly, Hard Rock finds that the openings in non-tourism cities do not follow the global strategy which aims to prime entertainment area. When the global economic recovers from crisis, Hard Rock would have more reasons to strictly pursue the winning Experience economy that allowed the firm to expand from 1 cafe to hundreds in 57 countries over the world. The second reason might be the profits of Nottingham, Leeds and Birmingham cafes were not as high as expected. Thirdly, there might be another Hard Rock cafe/bar opening soon in nearby area. No matter what the reason is, the closing down of those cafes exposes kind of failure. In summary, Hard Rock Cafe global strategy is superior in normal economic notation; however, it has trouble when global economy fluctuates.Economic crisis has influence on every business firms but Hard Rock must incur more than average. The opening and closing of Hard Rock cafes In some non- standard tourist destinations in the UK have shown the Achilles heel of the strategy. In operations management aspect, it is problem with long-term forecasting and location selection. At the present time Hard Rock expands the working fields to bar, casino and hotel, nevertheless, this document only mentions about cafe the original core business of Hard Rock.Strategy Insight Front office The Hard Rock Cafes main products are classic American food and drinks, together with extra merchandising souvenirs such as Rock t-shirt, bags, guitars and pins. The services include custom meal serving and live music concert with unique visual sound. All is organized within a large venue which has capacity of several hundred seats, stage and shopping corner where customers can buy Hard Rock gifts. This is differentiation in the strategy. The food, drinks and services of Hard Rock Cafe must always come together because they all create a special atmosphere for customers. People come to Hard Rock not only for the meal but also enjoy the music and experience the ambiance there. Customers could have that feeling at the first look of cafe layout design from outside in. The combination of black color tone, lighting and rock-style decoration at all cafes of Hard Rock makes customers recognize its brand. Kitchen, bar, stage Are arranged in appropriate order so that wait-persons serve customers conveniently along with customers can view the stage clearly. Considering five performance objectives[3], Hard Rock Cafe seems to focus n flexibility and quality more than speed, price and dependability. Hard Rock customizes the menu to meet local tastes. This flexibility also means that Hard Rock respects the tradition and culture of the locals and designs cafes settings with that view in mind. So, beside the elasticity of products, there is flexibility in layout design. Another example is KEF. Entering Vietnam market, KEF must supply cooked rice and soup, the Vietnamese traditional food, together with chickens.KEF has to choose large place to ensure enough seats for customers because, unlike in England, customers here must sit and eat on able instead of standing or leaning on kind of bar chairs and putting chicken on a bar of table. Another problem will come up if Hard Rock customizes or upgrades the menu to meet local taste: who and how to cook those new traditional dishes. Will Hard Rock hire cooks or give current chief the time to do research then try the new dishes? Large capacity, however, is a waste if hundred seats is not filled a half or more.It is problem of higher initial invest on labor and facilities like chair, tables, decoration But they are not totally used in productivity. It is also both did problem of centre location selection. Centre space usually cost much but if the location is not in service totally and efficiently, it is wasteful. 2 Back office Behind the outstanding differentiation at products, services, layout design and capacity of cafe, Hard Rock has very good human resources, scheduling and supply chain management system. Applicants are selected and trained carefully before working officially. They all must enjoy and together bring a fun, healthy, nurturing environment into Hard Rock Cafe culture. The unique culture and work environment intrigue to the low turnover of hourly people (Higher Render, 2010). This human resources strategy not only creates work motivation for staffs but also secure human resources. The only disadvantage is that Hard Rock trainer must spend more time to interview and train new staff in comparison with training activity at other cafes. Ached lulling and forecasting are really scientific with help of software and computer systems. However, long-range forecasting in setting capacity plan only and intermediate-term in locking contracts with suppliers seem to be not enough. As a multinational corporate, Hard Rock should care and forecast about global factors such as foreign exchange rate in mid-range, fashion trend in long-range so that Hard Rock Cafe can prepare better merchandising gifts. Relating to fluctuation of foreign exchange rate, Hard Rock may have to assess again supply chain of some products. About merchandising gifts, instead of importing from China currently, Hard Rock might purchase from local manufacturer to mitigate exchange rate risk.

A Comparative Analysis of the Health free essay sample
A Comparative Analysis of the Health Care System in France vs the United States Introduction Everyone would agree that a good health system, above all, must contribute to good health. It is certainly not considered acceptable to protect or improve the average health of the population, if at the same time inequality worsens or remains high because the gain accrues disproportionately to those already enjoying better health. The responsibility of a health care system is also to reduce inequalities to race, gender, social status and religion. While the United States is considered a world eader in almost any category they are Judged; however, the US healthcare system remains one of the worst. This analysis will compare the US health system with that of the French. Their health system is worth comparing because they are considered a world leader when it comes to their healthcare system. Population and Health Status Rated the best health system in the world by the World Health Organization in 2000, the French Health Care System serves more than 65 million individuals (French Health Care System). We will write a custom essay sample on A Comparative Analysis of the Health or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Dutton summarizes statistics compiled from the Organization or Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2005 detailing the population to include more than 16% over 65 years of age with a life expectancy of 79 years of age. He goes on to explore the mortality and morbidity rates. In 2003, the infant mortality rate was four per 1000 live births. And, interestingly it was reported that 26% of the population 1 5 years and older consumed tobacco products daily and 9. 4% of the total population were obese. Dutton, 2007, p. 7) The comparative summary of the same data for the United States shows that while the American population is uite a bit larger at more than 293 million individuals, the life expectancy is shorter at 77 years of age, and the infant mortality rate is greater at 6. 9 per 1000 live births. The United States population has a much higher percentage of obesity at 30. 6% more than 200% greater than that of the French; however a smaller reported percentage of tobacco con sumption at 18. 4%. (Dutton, 2007, p. ) One can deduct from these statistics that the health care system in the United States has not successfully been able to keep up with the growing population. In addition, the United States system does not effectively maintain the aging population. At this rate of growth in population and the aged population, access to health care services requires strategic attention. Access to Health Care The French have access to more practicing physicians and physician consultants per capita than that of the United States by more than 30% as summarized by Dutton of the 2005 statistical analysis done by the OECD (Dutton, 2007, p. ). The French government provides coverage for the majority of all health care services allowing individuals to decide which physicians and/or facilities they desire, whether it is for specialty or general care in a public or private sector. The hospital system is profit institutions. This differs greatly from that of the United Stat es, in that the government insures way less individuals leaving the management of care for the people at the direction of primary care physicians participating in a managed care insurance company. The people of the United States not only have access to fewer practicing physicians and physician consultants, they are also required to see only those that belong within their managed care network at the discretion of their primary care physician. For the United States, managed care by private insurance ompanies has resulted in a failed healthcare system; hence the dire need for reform. But, the problem presented now is reform is being done in reaction to failure. Any industry will show that making change based on a reaction is much less effective and more costly than making change proactively after careful consideration. And, at whose expense will reform come It will come at the expense of the American people. Expenditures Dutton, summarizing OECD statistics reported in 2005, claims that the French government pays for 78. 3% of Frances total health care spending which accounts for 10. 4% of their GDP equating to $3048 per capita. Depressingly for the United States, health care spending makes up a much higher 15. 2% of the GDP at $5711 per capita, of which the United States government is contributing only 44. 6%. (Dutton, 2007, p. 7) Health insurance in France is primarily funded through their Social Security System. The system is made up of many different bodies and is complicated to understand in detail. Everyone working in France must contribute to the French Social Security system and everyone (French or not, working or not, unemployed, child or retired, legal or illegal immigrant) is entitled to benefit from it with no exception; the system s rather complex and considered bureaucratic. The system is threefold: Health, Family and Retirement, each of them having different structures and financing; each of them being financially autonomous. The Health system is based on the concept of providing help to anyone for any medical need. The French Health system of insurance differs from that of the United States in that in the United States, not everyone is entitled to benefits. Individuals and their conditions or problems are subject to rules and regulations and standards of practice. The proposed health care reform adds debt to the United States budget; owever where is the true expense being incurred? Physicians are threatened with a more than 20% reduction in Medicare reimbursement. And, patients and employers will be forced to make decisions regarding health care solely on the basis of costs. These two items only hurt the people of the United States. Should the government take more of a financial stand with the United States health care system? Environmental Influences on the Healthcare System Controlling costs in both France and the United States is at the forefront of the future state of their health care systems. The French have historically allowed eimbursement to physicians to allow for any and all services they provided, giving them full freedom to determine what services they deemed are necessary. As a result, physicians were exceeding their fee schedules on multiple levels. They have put controls on such costs and to alert doctors to economic conditions that cannot be ignored (Dutton, 2007, p. 165). This is the path the United States has been taking for quite some time now, but they are still in a state of flux. The United States government is looking to reform health care to its fullest potential, when in fact it eeds to be rebuilt. There are portions of health care reform that will help the people yet there are others that will hurt the people. Take for instance the focus on quality. Introducing coverage for preventative medicine will reduce long-term negative effects to the body. And, basing physician and hospital payments on quality will only reduce medical errors; therefore improving the life expectancy within the United States. Summary In summary, contrary to what one could expect from a large, state-owned and centralized organization, the French Health Care System is very efficient and has the tatistics to back it up; however placing controls on physicians could lead them in the direction that the United States seems to have failed.. It is obvious that there is no one solution to the best health care system; however France has proven through statistics and patient satisfaction that they are definitely one of the best. The Feast of the Tabernacles Essays
The Feast of the Tabernacles Essays The Feast of the Tabernacles Essay The Feast of the Tabernacles Essay Essay Topic: East Of Eden The Feast of the Tabernacles Name: Course: Date: The Feast of the Tabernacles The Feast of the Tabernacles is considered as among the seven annual biblical festivals. The feast was introduced to the Israelites during the exodus. It is considered as a pilgrimage whereby all Jews journeyed to Jerusalem to observe the feast. As one of the feasts observed by the Jews, The Feast of the Tabernacles is considered as a means provided by God in order to fulfill his plan for mankind. This feast is deemed as a banquet that was a celebration of the blessings of God that were provided in abundance in order to coincide with the harvesting which occurred during fall. The Feast of the Tabernacles is also a representation of Godââ¬â¢s faith to the Israelites after their exodus from captivity in Egypt, a memorial of their wandering through the wilderness, and life in the tabernacles. Essentially, the deepest meaning to Christians from the feast is the return of Christ and the commemoration of his return for his rule on earth. Literature provides that Jesus was probably born during the fall period that is relative to The Feast of the Tabernacles. The coinciding events, the birth of Christ, and the season of harvesting in the fall were an indication of the abundance of the blessings of God (Stalley, 2000). Christ is termed as manââ¬â¢s greatest gift from God. God provided mankind with Jesus Christ as an indication of his willingness to provide man with an avenue to redeem himself and reunite with God. Essentially it was an indication of the desire by God for man to save himself after the disappointing fall from grace in the Garden of Eden. Hence The Feast of the Tabernacles is essentially fulfilled in the second coming of Christ. The second coming will provide Christ with an opportunity to tabernacle among his flock. This will be made possible as Jesus Christ will assume the title King of kings and Lord of lords and ensuring that he provides rests to all the burdened (Towns, 2002). Mankind is burdened with sin and misfortunes attributable to the fall of humanity. The second coming is termed as the ultimate and climax of The Feast of the Tabernacles. This is because mankind will rejoice at the second coming of Christ as he will provide mankind with the much needed rest from their daily burdens of sin. Additionally, the reunion of Christ with mankind is joyous as this will provide mankind with the chance for eternal redemption and a place with the Creator and Son of God in the Kingdom of God. The symbolic return of Christ is symbolic in that it indicates that achievement of eternal existence and the loss of burdens of sins and achievement of happiness and joy brought about by the resurrection of Christ and his attainment of the throne (Stalley, 2000). The achievement of the eternal life marks a pivotal point for mankind. Hence Jesus could be termed as a symbol of the feast, which is the attainment of eternal life and peace. In addition, his resurrection, ascent and return to earth for a reunion with his disciples is similar to the exodus of the Israelites from the Egyptians where they were held in captive. In addition, it is also a reward from God to the Israelites for their belief in God to lead them to the Promised Land (Morris, 1989). Hence Jesus made a promise to mankind that he would return to save those who had faith in him and who believed in his teachings. More so, it was an indication of His second coming to take his people home. Such a reunion of the body in Christ is also similar to The Feast of the Tabernacles whereby all people brought together their harvests, sacrifices and offerings. In conclusion, The Feast of the Tabernacles is symbolic to the life of Christ and his coming into the world (White, 1971). His birth in Jerusalem is presumed to have occurred during that harvest in the fall, a period which people congregated in Jerusalem in order to celebrate The Feast of the Tabernacles. This was a means of rejoicing to God for his abundance in blessings. Additionally, The Feast of the Tabernacles reaches a climax in the second coming of Christ whereby he indicates the end to human suffering and the achievement of eternal life. References Morris, L. Nurse Staffing and the Quality of Patient Care Essay
Nurse Staffing and the Quality of Patient Care - Essay Example ency that translates to improved care to patients, leading to swift recovery and reduced patientsââ¬â¢ mortality rates because they have the full attention of the nurses throughout their convalescence (Needleman, et al, 2002). On the other hand, when the ratio of nurses to patients is low this contributes low quality patient care, increased medical errors and high mortality rates of patients this is due to overwork and fatigue among the nurses, which reduces their efficiency. In conclusion, it can be said that the level of nurse staffing does indeed have an impact on the quality of care that patients receive since patient to nurse ratio has a direct impact on the effectiveness of nurses, occurrences of medical errors and patient mortalities. Therefore, it is paramount despite the increased health care cost and the urge to offer quality care at a reduced cost, that the nurse to patient ratio be maintained at an adequate level to ensure efficiency and effectiveness is

Which Are The Effects Of Political Marketing In The Parliamentary Essay
Which Are The Effects Of Political Marketing In The Parliamentary Elections Of 2004 In Greece - Essay Example Opinion polls for the last year have given the right-of-center opposition New Democracy party (ND) a commanding lead, while Costas Simitis, the reformist prime minister and PASOK leader who steered Greece into the euro zone, has lost ground to Costas Karamanlis, his younger conservative rival. True, the ND party came out ahead of PASOK, winning mayoral races in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece's two biggest cities. Furthermore, the conservatives exploited farmers' dissatisfaction with declining European Union subsidies to win thirty out of fifty-two provincial governor's posts. But PASOK held on to the high-profile post of Attica governor--won comfortably by Fofi Gennimata, a rising star and one of only a handful of women in the party's upper echelons. Overall, barely two percentage points separated the two big parties. While ND is still the favorite to win the next general election--not due until spring 2004 but likely to be held earlier--PASOK has shown remarkable powers of resilience. A feel-good factor is certainly at work, with Greece's economy projected to expand this year by 3.8 percent, more than twice the EU average, and by 4.1 percent in 2003. Growth is being driven by high levels of public and private investment, backed by a five-year, $24.6-billion package of EU structural aid. A massive program of infrastructure improvements is aimed at giving the Greek capital world-class sports facilities and a modern transportation system in time for the 2004 Olympic Games. While unemployment is the second highest in the euro zone, this year it has declined to single digits (just less than 10 percent) for the first time since the mid-1990s. PASOK has expanded job creation programs targeting women and young people and has launched tax cuts for lower income workers. But they face criticism for postponing urgently needed pension system reforms and for failing to cut corporation taxes--among the highest in the euro zone at 35 percent--to boost inward investment. Foreign direct investment, averaging only around $1 billion yearly, is much lower than in the Central European countries that will join the EU in 2004. "When the EU funds start to decline after 2006, Greece will need a sharp increase in foreign investment to maintain reasonable rates of growth," says George Alogoskoufis, ND's spokesman on the economy. The Simitis government has earned praise from the US for arresting eighteen alleged members of the November 17 (N17) terrorist organization over the summer. Since its emergence in 1975, the left-wing group had claimed responsibility for more than twenty assassinations, including US diplomats and servicemen and, most recently, Stephen Saunders the UK defense attach in Athens, as well as dozens of bomb and rocket attacks. The arrests came after two years of close cooperation between Greek police and Scotland Yard over the Saunders killing. Trials are due to start early next year and are likely to last for months. The apparent dismantling of N17, together with plans to work closely with the US on security for the Athens Olympics, has brought a significant improvement in relations with Washington. In response to concerns that other members of the group were still at large, Simitis said: "We will deal thoroughly with the terrorism problem. There may be some pieces of N17 left, but we intend to expose them." This month EU leaders are due to approve the accession of Cyprus--even if it is still divided into separate Greek and Turkish Cypriot sectors--at their Copenhagen summit along with another nine enlargement candidates. Accession for the island will mark a milestone in Greek

Native American Music Essay Example for Free
Native American Music Essay Native American music has many different musical styles. Within every Native American tribe there is a variety of musical styles and instruments. In response to the research that I have conducted, there are three main musical styles that are going to be my point of focus. The Sioux Grass Dance, the Zuni Lullaby, and the Iroquois Quiver Dance are the principal methods which contribute to Native American music. The Sioux Grass Dance is considered to be the most popular style of Native American Music. As one dances to this music, they follow a pattern known as toe-heel. This consists of the individual placing the left foot in front of the right and repeating with the other foot. Each male dancer makes many personal variations of this dance resulting in a solo display. The costume is an elaborate style that correlates with the vocal approach of music. Bells are tied around the legs of the dancers for an added effect. The Zuni Lullaby illustrates a contrast with Plains singing to assist in confirming that there is not an individual style to Native American music. Through the Native American styles of music, repetition becomes a prominent feature. This is not because the Native Americans cant find words to fit into the music, but because repetitions with slight variations are often too insignificannot for outside listeners to notice. In the Iroquois Quiver Dance the first thing to strike the ear is what is often known as a call and response form. One singer announces a phrase of lexical text, known as the call, the other singer answers him in a vocal pattern. This continues throughout the song. In illustrating many of the musical styles among Native American music, this has another name known as the Warriors Stomp Dance. The voices in the Iroquois Quiver Dance are relatively relaxed compared with that of the Plains singing. Instruments used to portray these various styles of music were often drums of all shapes and sizes, rattles, and often tambourines or bells with other percussion instruments. The drums were constructed by using such materials as clay, iron, wood or aluminum with heads of buckskin, chamois, or rubber. These drums were typically played with a single drumstick, holding a steady pattern of four beats. Also, in addition to these instruments there were wind instruments. The most common was the vertical flute, whistle, and occasionally panpipes. The flute was most often used to express a love song and never for religious ceremonies. Looking at Native American music, one can conclude that there are three main types of music: The Sioux Grass Dance, Iroquois Quiver Dance, and the Zuni Lullaby. Drums and wind instruments are used in portraying the music. The Native Americans dressed accordingly to the music that they dance to. All of these features add to what we have become acquainted with, Native American music.

The Negative Portrayal of Native Americans in Childrenââ¬â¢s Literature Ess
The Negative Portrayal of Native Americans in Childrenââ¬â¢s Literature The American institution has raised countless generations with misconceptions and lies regarding various foreign cultures. During the 1950ââ¬â¢s the educational system in America was given the responsibility of teaching children the horrors and injustices they would suffer if the "evil" communist took over the world. Schools taught students that communist wanted to take away music, apple pie, baseball, and anything else that Americans cherished. Students learned that it was best to believe in the righteous of America. The preceding discussion has much in common with the treatment that Native Americans have received from picture books in America. The American society came to the conclusion hundred of years ago that it was in the best interest of America to misrepresent Native Americans, both in the past and present. The American continents were said to be inhabited with animal-like savages that had no cultural value. Schools have taught that it was the European's duty to civilize the new lands. One of the primary tools that have been used in the education of children is the picture book. Picture books have provided the American institution with a means of teaching our children that the Native Americans were bestial and animalistic, thus enabling us to ignore or justify the atrocities that Europeans and Americans have inflicted on the native societies. Picture books are one of the first mediums of learning that children encounter. The picture book was first created in 1657 by John Amos Comenius. Comeniusââ¬â¢s book was entitled Orbis Pictus (The world of Pictures) and was an alphabet book (Martinez 57). Picture books are used to lay the foundations of the histori... ...York. 1969. Controlled assessment: Sainsburyââ¬â¢s transcripts Essay
In the first transcript ââ¬Ëstore standardsââ¬â¢ Joseph and Jason communicate with each other on the shop floor using spontaneous speech . However Jason comes with an agenda. In the second transcript, ââ¬Ësetting up the meetingââ¬â¢ Jason and joseph are arranging a meeting where they argue a bit about joseph having a meeting with someone else. However Jason warns him that he is to have a meeting with him and he ââ¬Ëholds the floorââ¬â¢. In the third transcript ââ¬Ëthe appraisal meetingââ¬â¢ Jason and joseph have a meeting where Jason again ââ¬Ëholds the floorââ¬â¢.Jason: is the manager of the largest Sainsburyââ¬â¢s store in the country which means he has a huge responsibility to make sure the workers have everything in place , staff are dressed neatly and provide people with their needs and wantingââ¬â¢s. Joseph: is a trainee who is training to be a manager in Sainsburyââ¬â¢s and has been working there for more than a year. He has also been sup plying people with help and helps set out the food, toys, clothes and much, much more. The first transcript ââ¬Ëstore standardsââ¬â¢ begins with an adjacency pair, Jason and Joseph, greeting each other informally with the use of ââ¬Ëalrightââ¬â¢ and as I have mentioned in the introduction, they are standing on the shop floor which also adds to the informality of the situation. This continues with Josephââ¬â¢s response of ââ¬Ëyep, yep, yeahââ¬â¢ which possibly shows that he is nervous. Another place where it possibly shows that he is nervous is when he uses some jargon. Here is some evidence: ââ¬Ëtheyââ¬â¢re back of the run (?)ââ¬â¢. As the conversation continues to move on, Jason expresses a prosodic feature by telling Joseph about the store standards ââ¬Ëthe standards you set are the standards you getââ¬â¢. By saying this he is explaining Joseph about how he has to keep the corporative image of the store standards. However joseph does not seem to be listening and Jason gets annoyed and sayââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëyouââ¬â¢re talking to me now.ââ¬â¢ Later on in the transcript Joseph corresponds to a paralinguistic feature by ââ¬Ëlaughingââ¬â¢ .This does relate to the subject they are talking about which shows that Joseph might conceivably be annoyed by the subject and might want to change it. In the second transcript, ââ¬Ësetting up the meetingââ¬â¢, Jason has come back to the shop floor to arrange a meeting with Joseph. However joseph has to meet another member of staff called Ginger and askes Jason if he has cleared it out with him or not because apparently he has other plans for him; ââ¬Ëhave you spoken to ginger about this? cos he has other plans for meââ¬â¢. This makes Jason bothered and sayââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ënoââ¬â¢ with annoyance and overlaps him and tells him to meet him at halve past twelve. The third transcript ââ¬ËThe appraisal meetingââ¬â¢, Jason and Joseph are having a meeting but this time not on the shop floor. The meeting is about Joseph being task focused and not paying attention to others. Jason explains the disadvantages about being task focused while Joseph is agreeing with his mistake and apologising. Later on in the conversation, Jason demonstrates and methodizes (to joseph) how he wants him to work. He also uses a form of spontaneous speech (which is also known as abbreviated language) when he says ââ¬Ëyeah so Iââ¬â¢m driving my double decker bus yeah and Iââ¬â¢m the driver cos Iââ¬â¢m the leaderââ¬â¢.

An Analysis of Two Advertisements Essay - 2548 Words
An Analysis of Two Advertisements I am going to analyse two adverts and discuss which one is more effective. The first advert that I am going to study is marketing New Synergie lift by Garnier. The second is promoting the product Total turnaround by Clinique. Both adverts were obtained from Marie Claire- a magazine intended for women aged between twenty and thirty. This suggests that the target audience for these two particular adverts is women, who are possibly very conscientious about their appearance and who typically have a salary, therefore will be able to afford the products being advertised. The Clinique advert has a very simple yet effective layout. There is a photograph in theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As in Clinique there is a sentence at the top of the page backed by a white setting making it stand out. This layout, although very different to that of Clinique is also very effective. It immediately attracts the viewer to the main photograph of a beautiful lady, the reader then wants to see what makes her this stunning, making them look around for indications in the advert. The two adverts have very different layouts. The Clinique page is very simple with one main group of images altogether in one place, whereas in Garnier advert places images over the entire page spreading them keeping your eye moving all the time. The layout of the Clinique advert is more effective than Garniers because of the simplicity. The eye is not distracted at all as it is in the Garnier advert but is forced to look at the most important thing in the whole advert - the product. In the Clinique advert, the first thing that seizes your attention is the baby chick in the centre of the page. Human instinct is to look at the eyes of another animal before any other part of their body as this feature is what tells us the most about that particular species. This forces the reader to look at the baby chick prior to the other images in the advert. The chick is very cute, fluffy and soft looking. This instantly gives the reader the impression that this isShow MoreRelatedAnalysis of Two Advertisements Essay773 Words à |à 4 PagesAnalysis of Two Advertisements I will be analysing two advertisements, stating how effective they are likely to be in achieving their purpose and in selling as a cruise holiday.
